This is a relatively recent addition to my collection, donated by my generous friend and benefactor Paul. He had two, so he gave this one to me. It features directional lighting, with a light-up sign and DCC capability. For more information about this specific model, click here.
The Deltic is a legendary British diesel-electric locomotive that made a huge impact on rail travel. Introduced in the 1960s by English Electric, these powerful engines took over the East Coast Main Line, making trips between London and Edinburgh much faster by replacing steam trains. Named after their unique Napier Deltic engines, they boasted a whopping 3,300 horsepower, making them the strongest diesel locos in the UK at the time.
With their sleek look and iconic two-tone green paint, the Deltics became a symbol of modern, speedy rail travel. Even though they were retired in the early '80s, six of these impressive machines have been preserved by rail enthusiasts, keeping their memory alive on heritage railways and among rail fans everywhere.
