This is the most recent addition to my 00 Gauge fleet. It's another Paul special (meaning a donation from my friend and mentor in model railways). I absolutely love this thing. It runs so well at slow speeds, and looks lovely in the the late crest BR livery. There's directional and interior lights, as well as DCC capability. It's also a good length, being actually a little too long to switch points on my inglenook layout - my fault for not adding a fiddle yard (yet). I can't wait to run it on a full-sized layout. If Paul ever sees this, I am so very grateful for your generousity. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see a great little video of this loco in action. The Class 108 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) stands as a remarkable example of British rail engineering from the mid-20th century. Introduced between 1958 and 1961, these units were built by the Derby Works and served primarily on rural and regional routes across the UK. Renowned for their robust construction and reliability, the Class 108s featured a distinctive boxy design with large windows, providing excellent visibility for passengers. Equipped with efficient Leyland engines, they delivered a smooth and dependable ride, which made them a staple of the British Rail network for several decades. Despite the advancements in rail technology, the Class 108 DMUs have earned a nostalgic place in the hearts of rail enthusiasts, with several preserved units still operational on heritage railways, where they continue to evoke the golden age of diesel rail travel.
