This Class 37 is one of the most appealing locomotives I own, and was also kindly donated by my friend Paul. I love the details and how striking the livery is, and the directional lights, cab lighting and driver all add to the effect. It has DCC capability, and runs brilliantly at a crawl, which is a must for a guy with a metre-long layout. Click here for more information about this specific model.
The Class 37, often called the "Tractor" by fans, is a real workhorse of British railways. Introduced in the 1960s, these robust locomotives were designed by English Electric and quickly became a familiar sight on tracks across the UK. Known for their distinctive growl and solid performance, the Class 37s handled everything from freight to passenger services with ease. With their rugged design and reliability, they earned a loyal following and are still fondly remembered today. Many Class 37s are still in use on heritage railways and even in some mainline operations, a testament to their enduring versatility and charm.
